چکیده

A 33-year old female was admitted to the hospital presented with right hypochondrium abdominal pain and jaundice. Abdominal ultrasonography showed multiple saccular dilatations of the intrahepatic biliary tract. Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography was performed (Figure 1A) showing nonobstructive saccular or fusiform dilatation of the intrahepatic bile ducts and choledochal cyst. Also it was performed a MR cholangiography (Figure 1B) which showed the same abnormalities described above. In 1958 Jacques Caroli described communicating cavernous ectasia of the biliary tree as an uncommon cause of chronic, often life-threatening hepatobiliary disease. The disease now most often referred to as Caroli’s disease is a

[Case of Caroli's disease].

Multiple communicating cysts of the biliary tree, or Caroli's disease (Caroli, 1958), may represent a rare variant of the less uncommon choledochal cyst (Esguerra-Gomez and RiverosGamboa, 1965). Reviewing 500 cases of choledochal cyst, Lee (1969) quotes only one of multiple cysts (Engle and Salmon, 1964). Of three cases similar to the one reported here one presented at the age of 43 with acute ...

[Caroli's disease].

Caroli's disease is characterized by multifocal segmental dilatation of the intrahepatic bile ducts. It is a rare congenital condition, which appears to be autosomal recessively inherited in most cases. There are two forms of disease, one associated with congenital hepatic fibrosis and a simple form occurring alone. Recent reports suggest that the simple form may be as common as that with conge...
